While we mostly match adult dogs with their forever home, we do sometimes have puppies available for adoption.
You might already be acquainted with the exceptional and unique animal adoption process we utilize here at Godbey Creek Canine Rescue and may even have been part of one of the 400 families we’ve placed dogs with since 2013. What you might not know is that on occasion, we also have puppies for adoption. This isn’t always the case, but there are situations in which we take in a rescue dog that is expecting or a mother with a litter of puppies.
You should know that when we do have puppies for adoption, we take the same care in getting to know them and matching them to their forever home as we do with adult dogs. We make sure the puppies are up to date on vaccinations, and we keep them until they are old enough to be weaned and spayed/neutered, as well as microchipped. Depending on the age of the puppy, we will have gotten a head start on leash, crate, and house training so that the transition to your Advance, North Carolina home can go more smoothly.
To ensure a proper match can be made, we will discuss with you the differences involved with puppies for adoption and adult dogs, so you can be confident you are ready for the changes that a puppy can mean for your household. You also have the option of completing a 2-week fostering period prior to adoption so that you can be confident the match is a favorable one. By taking all these added steps when putting up puppies for adoption, we are able to minimize return rates, keeping our rate at a low 2%, far below the common 10% or more experienced with most animal shelters.
