COURTESY POST FOR LION HEART DOG RESCUE:
Pippa is a happy go lucky girl who, while very shy and sensitive at first, does warm up and adores her human. She is good with most dogs but, as with all dogs, needs to be introduced properly. Pippa is the girl who usually stays at the back of the pack as she is more a follower vs. a leader.
She loves to play in the yard and chase squirrels; but, her favorite pastime is playing fetch. While she does go on walks, this doesn’t seem to be her favorite thing to do. She does have an ‘off button’ or a ‘couch potato’ button when indoors, is fully house trained and loves sleeping with her human teenagers.
Ms. Pippa is good with children who are respectful; however, she does become annoyed with little barky dogs.
We are looking for a home and family…..
- who KNOWS and has experience with the breed
- has plenty of time to dedicate to this deserving and intelligent girl
- has a good groomer that is experienced with standard poodles (a must)
- without small, rowdy children and small dogs
- with a fenced in yard for her play and exercise
Spayed, up to date on all vaccines and on heartworm prevention. This beautiful girl is ready for her new home.
Please submit an application if you are interested in adopting Pippa.

This beautiful German Shepherd is sweet, loving, gets along great with other dogs and loves to ride in the car. Once settled in, she enjoys her toys and especially enjoys spending time with her human. At 75 lbs., this sweetheart is believed to be about three years old. Her secret passion is to sleep with her human but, if you decide that she’s a little big, she will sleep quietly in her own large comfy bed. This girl has been in the foster care of two different individuals and loves nothing better than to cuddle. Fully house trained and she’s sweet, loving and only needs a little time and patience. Then, true to the German Shepherd breed, she will be your faithful and constant companion.

Benji (aka Cam after a haircut) says “thank you” for finding him his forever family who couldn’t love him more❣️
Yay - Oliver made the post!! ❤️🐶. He really enjoyed his first inside thanksgiving - and maybe a few extra treats!
And Zoey!
Maple arrived from a local shelter where she had been held as part of an abuse case. Chained to a tree inside of a roughly 10’ x 10’ chain link fence lot, this sweet girl and her companion were starved and emaciated enough that they were seized and animal cruelty charges were filed. As a result, Maple and her companion Pancake, spent over five months in the shelter while her human awaited trial. The pets of course were not returned to the owner.
This husky looking girl, while short in stature and not as large as an average sized husky, has another breed or two in her DNA. Her feathered feet, top and bottom, are a dead giveaway; combine her personality and we are guessing some type of retriever. But the blue eyes bring you right back to earth with her husky heritage.
Sweet as Maple syrup, this canine with the great personality only wants to give you her belly when you go to rub her. She has been outdoors for extended periods of time and has never tried to jump or climb a fence.
Maple hasn’t found her voice or has never expressed it either in the shelter or while here at the rescue. She tested well with our test dog and with two large breed dogs with whom she did extremely well and now plays daily. She’s a happy girl.
If you want to meet this lovely girl, please submit an application at:

Stanley arrived as a stray whose personality won over his canine caregivers quickly. Today this 2-3 year old sweetheart thoroughly enjoys being outdoors where he plays endless hours with his doggie playmates and any toys that come his way. Stanley also gets along with cats. He keeps a perfectly clean kennel inside and has never had an accident. A huge step toward being fully housetrained when he gets his forever home.
While Stanley is a pit mix and pretty perfect in every way, it's his intelligence that sets him apart. Armed with a small vocabulary of typical commands, Stanley will impress you and win your heart. But most of all, you will fall for him because he loves humans and just wants to please. While Stanley needs to improve his leash manners and become accustomed to riding in a car, there is no doubt whatsoever that this fellow has belonged to someone.
This handsome fellow will make a great companion. If interested, please submit an application. www.wagtopia.com/search/pet?id=1872688&name=Stanley

Sweet little Hans arrived at Godbey Creek Rescue with pain written all over his sweet face. After being found along side an exit ramp of Hwy 421 in Yadkin County, not being claimed by his previous owners and being assessed by a veterinarian, this precious fellow is at least safe, warm and a tad more comfortable today. Hans has a long road ahead of him.
With injuries to his legs, hips and spine, this humble guy will still get up and walk albeit with quite an unusual and compensating gait. The veterinarian believes he was likely hit by a car; however, the vet could see evidence of older injuries that had been repaired which he estimated to be about a year old.
The veterinarian immediately treated a large pocket of infection in his leg that popped open allowing blood and pus to flow. Oddly enough, this pet has had previous surgeries so we know that he was someone’s pet at some time in the past.
As if Han’s physical injuries were not enough, he was covered in fleas…..the water turned red with blood from the parasites when he was bathed.
But this little fellow slept very good his first few nights with a temporary foster.
Here’s what we know about gentle Hans after only a few days in foster and being transported to the veterinarian….he is a quiet soul whether riding in the car or sleeping on his new bed. This laid back pup is housebroken, great with the foster’s three dogs and the cats, not destructive in the home, well mannered, does good on the leash and would love to have a fenced in yard. At 20 pounds, he's the perfect size. The vet estimated his age at 4 years old and we believe he is a wire haired terrier mix. We can absolutely verify that he is adorable too.
We will know more soon but, in the meantime, we ask for your prayers for Hans. And, we are hopeful that a special foster or adopter - - one who can monitor Hans’ health and medical healing - - can step forward and help this beautiful creature.
If you're interested in adopting Hans or fostering, please submit an application. www.wagtopia.com/search/pet?id=1871894&name=Hans

Dutton is available for adoption.
What an adorable pup! 😍
🐾❤️🐾
So darn cute too
He is adorable.
Look at those long arms. Sweet and kind eyes.
As Giving Tuesday, November 28 approaches, and you consider which charities you'd like to support, we want to share more detail about what we do.
In 2023 as with previous years, we have pulled and/or accepted heartworm positive pets, elderly pets, pets who were so terrified in shelters that they literally could not function, pets on death row, pregnant pets, abandoned pets, stray pets, pets with behavioral problems and pets with physical injuries or disabilities. Our job doesn’t stop with placing the pet. We stay in close touch with adopters: providing guidance, input and on-site help when needed.
In an attempt to support families working hard to keep their personal pets or help a neighborhood pet through extraordinarily difficult situations, we provide food, supplies, kennels, temporary foster care, dog houses, shavings, etc. While this consumes a tremendous amount of time, work and resources, we are barely scratching the surface.
Shelters are overrun and bulging at the seams, shelters are threatening owner surrenders of certain death and shelters are begging rescues more and more than ever. And still, the dogs keep coming.

Ready for another great Pupdate?
When a compassionate and caring vet technician phoned from a local veterinarian’s office, she was on a mission of mercy.
A beautiful, sweet senior hound mix had been brought in to be euthanized. The pet, adopted from a local humane society three years earlier, showed that she left the Humane Society as heartworm negative. The pet had not been kept on heartworm prevention and was now heartworm positive. Per the owner, the pet had also shown aggression; and, with an expensive and time consuming heartworm treatment required to save her, there was no time left for Suki.
The owner requested that the pet be euthanized as the Humane Society was full and could not allow the pet to be returned. This pet, crated for extended periods of time daily, had such severe anxiety that she had chewed her teeth down to the gum line.
But, the vet tech only saw a gentle and humble soul. And so ….Suki came to live at Godbey Creek Canine Rescue. When she arrived, you could not help but fall in love with her. And, she existed quietly and peacefully - - and, she made it safely through her heartworm treatment. Special Thanks to our Facebook supporters who donated to the cost of her treatment. She seemed perfect …….for a while.
Soon enough though her intense separation anxiety manifested itself …..and to watch her was heartbreaking. She would gnaw the kennel some nights or during storms until her gums bled. And, with many of her teeth already missing, this had to be painful. We learned quickly that having other companion pets in her kennel made Suki feel safe and secure and helped relieve her anxiety.
Fast forward a couple of months and FINALLY a PERFECT FAMILY came to the rescue with their hound mix babies in tow to meet sweet Suki. This AMAZING family fell in love with her instantly. They were dedicated and determined to help her with her anxiety and ensure the senior years are her best years yet.
Today, Suki has more fluffy beds than she could imagine, a wonderful HOME, several canine siblings, a family who understands and cares for her and new friends at her doggie daycare!
We are so blessed when our pets find their perfect family and perfect environment. Our families often go to extreme lengths to ‘rescue’ for they truly know and understand the true meaning of the word. Suki certainly found her perfect family and her safe haven.
CONGRATULATIONS to Suki and THANK YOU to her family for giving this beautiful girl an extraordinary chance at life.
